That’s why Vol State is “guided by purpose,” with plenty of academic support systems in place to help you succeed. TRIO Student Support Services helps selected students with tutoring and one-on-one coaching. The Learning Commons at Vol State offers free academic support to all students including math and science tutoring and assistance with papers and speeches. We also have an amazing group of advisors who can assist you in finding your best career path. All of our student support systems are designed to help you stay on track and achieve your goals. This could mean following a specific major or degree pathway, a Tennessee Transfer Pathway accepted at most major universities, a career-ready certificate program, or numerous educational options. Financial Aid In the 2024-25 academic year, 94% of students at Vol State received some sort of financial aid or assistance. This includes Federal, State, Institutional, or Foundation aid paid into student accounts to the tune of over $30 Million in 2024-25! Programs include TN Promise (for graduating high school seniors), TN Reconnect (for adults who don’t already have a degree), Student or veteran scholarships, Ambassador and Pioneer Leader scholarship program, plus other funds from the Volunteer State Community College Foundation, an organization focused on helping make a difference in the lives of students who may not otherwise be able to obtain a college education.
